Don't Wait to Get the Help You Need

Welcome to Gift of Therapy!

Are you feeling overwhelmed and alone and often wondering whether or not you are enough? Does your child or teen seem sad, angry, anxious, withdrawn, or all over the place?

If you are currently navigating pregnancy, birth, and the postpartum experience OR you have a child or teen who is having difficulty communicating and managing emotions, you have come to the right place!

Pregnancy and parenting can be very challenging and draining. Being a child is not easy as well. As a parent or guardian, you may struggle with wanting to protect your child while also wanting to provide your child with the appropriate tools to become a successful adult. Whether they are learning how to make friends in middle school or learning how to navigate their teenage years, children and adolescents will face many situations that will challenge their beliefs about themselves, others, and the world.

Feeling seen and supported are key.

"Play is often talked about as if it were a relief from serious learning. But for children play is serious learning. Play is really the work of childhood."
- Fred Rogers

My practice specializes in therapy services for children and adolescents as well as women who are needing support during their pregnancy and following childbirth.

Specifically, I work with children and adolescents ages 7 through 18 who are struggling with depression, anxiety, behavior problems, anger, and overcoming traumatic experiences. I would love the opportunity to support you as the parent or guardian and work with your child in learning helpful and meaningful ways to deal with life’s challenges. Also, when it comes to women who are needing pregnancy and postpartum support, I understand that the journey can be filled with ups and downs, laughter and heartache, blessings and challenges. I tailor my work to the individual needs of each person.

At Gift of Therapy, I am committed to inspiring hope and helping children, adolescents, and mothers transform their lives. If you are ready to start this transformation, please contact me today!

About Dr. Gift McDougal

Hello! My name is Dr. Gift McDougal. I am a Clinical Psychologist licensed in the state of Georgia. I was born in Nigeria and was raised in Georgia. I have always had a passion for working with children of all ages. I view the child as part of a system (family, school, community) and when we address the system as a whole then greater healing and change can happen. Providing a child and adolescent a safe space to explore their issues is very important to me. I also have a passion for working with teen girls and women during the pregnancy and postpartum period. I value family, community, spirituality, and interacting with individuals from various backgrounds and cultures. I love spending time with my husband, our 4 children, and our family dog. Writing, watching musicals, and engaging in DIY projects are other activities I enjoy.
